The 2023 Martin Weiselberg Memorial Hockey Tournament will feature a day of celebration, learning, friendship and of course, hockey, with the hope that, even in a fashion that is being proposed, we can build a stronger bond in Am Yisroel for the future.
The tournament will also be one of remembrance. The tournament is the 17th dedicated to the memory of Marty Weiselberg (Avraham Menashe ben Dov Be’er HaLevi). Marty, father of hockey coach, Elliot Weiselberg, passed away on March 28th, 2006. Marty, a loving father, son and husband believed in the values of sport, the importance of life and the enjoyment of all that it encircled. Most importantly, Marty was a supporter of the children.
For almost 17 years, Marty served as Treasurer on the board of Yeshiva Derech HaTorah/ Yeshiva Mizrachi L’Banim in Brooklyn, NY. Throughout those 17 years, he did his best to ensure that the nearly 1,000 children, including his two sons and nephew, that he came in contact with, would receive only the best that could be offered so that they would, one day, make a difference toward the advancement of Klal Yisroel.
In addition, the event will also serve as a vehicle for charity, with donations being made toward Hatzolah for the tireless dedication and service shown to saving the lives of Jews everywhere.
